Sometimes it takes a near-tragedy to make us realize how fortunate was are to live in a place like Prince Township. I still recall what happened a few years ago.
My daughter was in a motor accident. Her car flipped over three times. She was not badly hurt, but in the ensuing confusion we realized finally, that our golden retriever puppy, George of Gros Cap, who also had been in the car now had vanished. Everyone called his name and tramped around trying to find him. But he was no where to be found. I had visions of him lying dead in a ditch, or trying to find his way home on a broken leg.
But the people of Prince Township did not give in. The word had spread around, and friends and neighbours scoured the countryside, and we got regular calls asking if we had found George.
By the time a week had passed, we had given up hope. Then, Wendy Bonenfant had a wonderful idea. She organized the local children into a search party, and they literally “beat the bushes” looking for George. We thought this was so touching, and hoped George would appear.
Then...one morning the phone rang and a voice said, “This is Mark Mageran, Mrs. James. I've found George. He was standing right where the accident happened. He's okay, and I'm bringing him home in the truck."
Where else but in Prince Township would you find a whole community determined to find someone else's pet! And understanding how much he meant to us.
Thank You, friends and neighbours. We feel certain that
your sympathy and concern guided George home!
