In my younger grades in Prince Township School, we always had a male teacher. I believe it was because their was always some older teen in the school who would often challenge the teacher's authority.
One morning one of the older teens got into trouble with teacher. I will not mention his name as he passed away many years ago. The teacher warned him to be quiet and to stay in his seat. This seemed to solve the problem at the time.
Suddenly this boy announced to the teacher he was going home. He got up from his seat, put on his coat, and went out the front door. This was winter time, and the boy's home was about two miles from the school.
The teacher put on his coat, warned us to stay in our seats, and be quiet. He went out the front door after the boy, who by this time was on the Second Line, heading for home.
The teacher returned a few minutes later with the boy on his shoulders. He put the boy down, told him to take off his coat, and to go to his seat.
There was no further trouble in class that day.
